So this is basically a link dump kind of post.<\/p>\n<p>Link #1: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/ai-pioneer-advocates-starting-over-2485537027.html\">Geoffrey Hinton cautions that deep learning is not especially deep<\/a><\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve written <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fecundity.com\/nfw\/2017\/06\/08\/ai-ai-ai\/\">some posts<\/a>\u00a0about the glitzy fad for &#8220;deep learning&#8221;. It has the same strengths and weaknesses it had when it traveled under the less-shiny banner of &#8220;back-propagation neural networks&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Link #2: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.technologyreview.com\/s\/608248\/biased-algorithms-are-everywhere-and-no-one-seems-to-care\/\">Efforts to understand the bias inherent in algorithms<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Procedures that are superficially objective can encode bias.
