{"id":1161,"date":"2020-07-30T08:08:12","date_gmt":"2020-07-30T12:08:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.fecundity.com\/nfw\/?p=1161"},"modified":"2020-07-29T15:31:04","modified_gmt":"2020-07-29T19:31:04","slug":"mad-science-comic-serials","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.fecundity.com\/nfw\/2020\/07\/30\/mad-science-comic-serials\/","title":{"rendered":"Mad science comic serials"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>As a followup to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fecundity.com\/nfw\/2020\/07\/29\/on-the-end-of-webcomics\/\">my previous post<\/a>, I&#8217;ve decided to share some webcomic recommendations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the early days of the pandemic, I reread two fantastic science fiction comics that were written from the beginning to tell a specific story.<span id='easy-footnote-1-1161' class='easy-footnote-margin-adjust'><\/span><span class='easy-footnote'><a href='https:\/\/www.fecundity.com\/nfw\/2020\/07\/30\/mad-science-comic-serials\/#easy-footnote-bottom-1-1161' title=' Unlike &lt;a href=&quot;https:\/\/www.schlockmercenary.com\/&quot;&gt;Schlock Mercenary&lt;\/a&gt;, which started as an open-ended comic strip and had lots of separate stories along the way to its eventual conclusion.'><sup>1<\/sup><\/a><\/span> Both of these manage to pull off the trick of presenting extraordinary characters in a universe that is nothing like mine while still getting me emotionally invested in them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I originally read them as were coming out, waiting for the each new page. This time, each story wiled away a shelter-in-place afternoon. Afternoons well spent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"200\" height=\"40\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.fecundity.com\/nfw\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/20200729miracleofscience.jpg?resize=200%2C40&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"&quot;A Miracle of Science&quot; and a picture of a lady's head\" class=\"wp-image-1162\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.project-apollo.net\/mos\/index.html\">A Miracle of Science<\/a>, by Jon Kilgannon and Mark Sachs, is set in a solar system overrun by mad scientists. It follows the adventure of Benjamin Prester, agent of the Vorstellen Police.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.questionablecontent.net\/alice1.html\">Alice Grove<\/a>, by Jeph Jacques, is about life in a fragile Eden.
